Siddig Mohamed

Graduating from college is a major accomplishment in life. I am deeply grateful to my employer, Merakey IDD of Philadelphia, and the District 1199C Training & Upgrading Fund for providing me with the opportunity to achieve my dream of graduating from Thomas Jefferson University, a prestigious educational institution.

When I first enrolled in classes, I was nervous about returning to school at an older age. However, I quickly realized that my passion for learning was stronger than my fears. I have faced many challenges, such as working full-time, attending classes, and managing my family commitments during the COVID-19 pandemic lockdown. But I never gave up; I worked hard and stayed focused on my goals. The staff at the Training & Upgrading Fund has been incredibly supportive, providing us with the resources and guidance we needed to succeed.

As a caregiver, the work-based learning I have received has been invaluable. It has helped me to better serve my clients and has given me the skills and knowledge I need to advance my career. To my fellow District 1199C members, I offer this advice: never give up on your dreams, no matter how difficult the challenges may seem. Education is the key to success.

Finally, I am a proud graduate last May 2023, at the age of 63. I would like to congratulate my classmates and professors for their dedication and hard work during the COVID-19 pandemic.
