The Academies at Roxborough High School, led by Principal Dana Jenkins, received formal notification on Wednesday May 15th that their Health Sciences and Research Academy has earned National Career Academy Coalition accreditation as Model Status! This makes The Academies at Roxborough the first school in the Northeast section of the United States to have an academy achieve Model Status.
District 1199C Training Fund developed the STE(A)M (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Mathematics) Scholars Program at Roxborough High School. This pilot program will provide 70 students with 5 years of enriched academic programming, career exposure, supportive services and coaching to prepare them for success in post-secondary healthcare pathways. Programming will begin in high school and continue post-graduation.
Teachers and administrators noted the importance of the Training Fund’s STEAM Scholars program to this accomplishment.
Achieving Model Status is a prestigious honor, one that is usually awarded to less than 30 academies nationwide each year.
